The dog who started this was thirteen.

SellaroGroup was started because our founder's dog, Tobi, was running out of good days. She was thirteen, her hips were giving out, and we'd already cycled through the NSAIDs, the supplements, the rehab appointments. She had stopped greeting us at the door.

We found photobiomodulation in a 2018 Canadian Veterinary Journal trial. The researchers had run a randomized, blinded, placebo-controlled study on dogs with elbow osteoarthritis. After six weeks of red light therapy, 9 of 11 treated dogs reduced their arthritis medication dose. 0 of 9 placebo dogs did.

The therapy worked. It just wasn't accessible to most owners — the same wavelength technology was sitting inside veterinary rehab clinics charging $50 to $75 per session, often two towns over.

So we built a mat.
